Over the past few years I began to bear a grudge over the fact that Christmas is a commercialized holiday based on lying to children. But this year I realized it doesn’t really matter if the holiday has a solid historical/cultural foundation or makes sense. What matters is that it inspires giving, and brings people together. And if it makes people’s lives better in some way, that’s enough cause for celebration.
